The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

so yes if anybody is wondering/looking for this image/etc. i did delete the stock version of this :thumb170724116: because it was just one of those images i put out as stock but i can just sense that it's going to be abused. i.e. people turning it to black and white, changing the colors, adding a filter to, etc..not a manipulation. and i get awfully tired of sending out notes trying to explain as nicely as possible how this kind of stuff is NOT a manipulation. seems to definitely be more of an issue with my portrait stock, and it's a shame because i tend to love a good portrait manipulation the most.
(also, no worries to anyone who has already used this image)

STOCK USE RULES

(i know it looks like a lot, but c'mon, they're common sense i do something for you, you do something for me, that's how this works

)

1. YOU MUST MUST MUST LINK AND CREDIT ME (link meaning send me an actual link and put an actual link back to me on the deviation, DO NOT JUST TYPE IN MY NAME-THE LINK IS CRUCIAL) and let me know you've used one of my images. Oh please let me still use this image for reference.... I can guarantee you that I would not abuse the privilege. I don't even make photo manipulations, but if I did..I do much more than a color change. However, I use stock photos for reference for my traditional work. You can even check my work to see how I use other stocks artist's photos.

Aw, that makes me sad. I've used it, and I quite love portrait manips myself. I hope you will at lease let me keep my deviation up?

But I do understand that you are tired of your stocks being misused. So if you feel the right thing is to take it down, you should of course.
