my mailbox is tired.

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 5, 2011, 7:46 AM
this is going to sound really jerky, but I wish there was a way to shut down my notes inbox. i get so tired of getting notes, constantly asking me for permission for all kinds of things. I wish people could just stick to using my photos on deviantart only. right now i'm just letting it build up because I don't feel like answering. bleh!
**Also, i really don't appreciate when people just send me links to where they used my photos outside of deviantart, without ever asking me beforehand. It's just a lack of respect to me. Everytime I think about all of this crap I just remember how I do this for free and it just makes me want to close up shop.

Alright sorry for my bitching!

:skullbones: :skullbones: :skullbones: STOCK USE RULES :skullbones: :skullbones: :skullbones:
(i know it looks like a lot, but c'mon, they're common sense i do something for you, you do something for me, that's how this works :) )

:bulletpink: 1. YOU MUST MUST MUST LINK AND CREDIT ME (link meaning send me an actual link and put an actual link back to me on the deviation, DO NOT JUST TYPE IN MY NAME-THE LINK IS CRUCIAL) and let me know you've used one of my images. I really will hunt you down if you don't :katana: If you are unsure of how to properly link to deviants, please refer to the FAQ [link] it will tell you everything you ever needed to know.

:bulletpink: 2. Please do NOT use my stock in any inappropriate works, NOTHING sexual, hateful, or racist. However, horror and macabre stuff is just fine, i love it.

:bulletpink: 3. Retouching and using my photos as a reference is fine, but just changing a photo to black&white, upping the contrast, overlaying a photoshop filter, etc. is NOT a manipulation and i have the right to ask you to remove any works that I feel do not constitute a true photomanipulation. :D

:bulletpink: 4. PLEASE ASK ME VIA A NOTE BEFORE ANY OFF-SITE USE OF MY STOCK. IF IT IS GOING ON A WEBSITE, PLEASE SEND ME A LINK TO THAT SITE

:bulletpink: 5. Don't send me any inappropriate requests (i.e. nudity, etc...not happening).

:bulletpink: 6. Please keep stupid, inappropriate comments such as OMG UR SO HOTT to yourself. Also, people with foot fetishes-you can take your fetishes elsewhere, YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT WELCOME ON MY PAGE.

:bulletpink: 7. Deviantart prints of your work that used my stock are fine and you don't need to ask permission. :D

:bulletpink: 9. YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT YOUR WORK USING MY PICTURES INTO THE PHOTOGRAPHY CATEGORY. IT IS MY PHOTOGRAPHY, NOT YOURS.

Honestly, I like your photos. I have only used one but I have an appreciation for what you do. I would say frankly fuck the people who burden you with messages all the time but then again I think most people want to credit your excellent stock photography. I suppose it is the give and the take. Either way, well done on your art form. I, for one, truly appreciate the images that you work so hard to provide. It is an art amongst itself. Cheers!

yeah i want to know what it is about notes that are so much more tiresome than comments..

and i hate that. but everytime i think about shutting my account down, someone links me to some amazing artwork using my stock and im like, no, its ok. the good outnumbers the bad.
then i imagine knocking on the idiot-who-wont-read-rules' door and torching them with a flamethrower. and aaaaaall is ok :D

Well... your rules say to send you a note to ask permission for offsite use. One would have thought you would appreciate the fact that people are asking permission. At least they are being polite. If you don't want to allow it, update your rules. Otherwise... well, it comes across that you're complaining that people are doing the right thing. (NO, I don't mean to be snarky, it's just an observation.)

Mind you, it won't stop people from doing precisely what they want. I know it's never stopped me - not that I have posted anything anywhere except a personal blog.

Just a thought, you know? I'm a stocker and I know how it feels when people don't do the right thing. Then again, I've lightened up a lot recently. So long as people are showing me what they're doing, I don't really care what they use my stuff for.

yes i know. i should update my rules. and yes, i am just simply complaining. i've been doing this for so many years now, it's just starting to get tired, and no longer fun and exciting. you reach a point where you just get tired of being used.

Please don't close up shop. :(

I really hate notes honestly. I only use them when required by stock providers or in a group I help out in. That's it.

I'd really hate to see you close up shop, your stock is very good and you do a bunch of good themes and angles. More time then not, while searching though your gallery i get inspired to do something with it, and I'd hate to loose that :) and you! lol

As for all those notes, maybe we could submit a thing to the DA site for those who go about creating new things to add to the site in general, and they should have a 'ask permission' button or something, that you could easily just click 'accept/decline' on, such like for critiques or club submission requests. Something that would be easier on stock makers :)

Sounds like a good idea, no? :D

Maybe change the rule to just on DA. Do not even bother noting to ask me to use it off site. ?

Easy fix: Post your rules on each of pics. I know it sucks and it's gonna take a minute, but then eveyone will know.

It is silly that these people do that..I've always used your great stock, here, only on DA....it's in the rules:shrug:....& I've never understood why people download other's stock photo's & re-upload them as their own photographs...do their brains not understand the concept of owership???
